Rafay reduced diagram creation times by 90% with Eraser
About Rafay
Founded in 2017, Rafay transforms CPU and GPU infrastructure into a strategic asset for enterprises and cloud providers. Its GPU PaaS™ enables NVIDIA Cloud Partners, GPU Clouds, and enterprises to streamline management of cloud and on-prem infrastructure, offering self-service workflows for platform and DevOps teams within a single multi-tenant platform. Rafay enhances governance, optimizes CPU/GPU costs, and accelerates delivery of cloud-native and AI applications. Trusted by customers like MoneyGram and Guardant Health, Rafay is recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Container Management and by GigaOm as a Leader and Outperformer in Managed Kubernetes.
The Challenge
Rafay needed a scalable method to convey complex AI infrastructure to clients
As a company operating at the leading edge of AI innovation, Rafay relies heavily on diagrams to enhance technical documentation and drive client alignment. However, coordinating diagram creation across disparate engineering and design teams proved to be a frustrating and time-consuming endeavor.
At the time, Rafay primarily relied on manual diagramming workflows. Engineers would map infrastructure by hand and send deliverables to the design team for refinement into digital formats. But between an overall lack of ownership, reliance on fragmented diagramming tools, and weeks-long iteration times, it quickly became clear that these workflows weren’t sustainable.
Chief Product Officer Mohan Atreya was tasked with refining Rafay’s diagramming workflows and removing friction between teams. He needed a platform that would empower any team member to create their own diagrams in minutes through simple prompts, enable quick iterations to align with evolving project updates, and unify all deliverables in one central hub.
That’s when he discovered Eraser.
“We needed a way to easily explain complex concepts to clients. If you invest in a visual way of describing infrastructure, meetings and conversations are quicker and less complicated.”
The Solution
Establishing AI-powered diagramming workflows with Eraser
Eraser provided exactly what Mohan needed to streamline and centralize Rafay’s diagram creation flows–while eliminating cross-team friction in tandem.
The partnership started small, with the engineering team using Eraser to enhance technical documentation with AI-generated diagrams. However, when Rafay’s design teams, solution architects, and customer-facing operators saw how seamless the platform was to use, adoption across the entire organization flourished. Despite dozens of teams adopting the platform, each output remains in one centralized, searchable, and collaborative workspace–delivering effortless accessibility.
For Mohan, Eraser’s most impactful use case is the quick visualization of ideas during client meetings. Whether client teams are conducting a kickoff call or a status update on an existing project, they can clearly convey complex AI infrastructure to even the most non-technical stakeholders. And because Eraser can create and alter diagrams from simple, text-based prompts, iterations happen in real time during meetings, cementing client alignment even when a project has many moving pieces.
But what truly solidified Mohan’s conviction in the partnership was Eraser’s proactive approach to customer support. Regular check-ins and fast product support were key differentiators since Mohan knows Eraser has Rafay’s needs in mind and help is always just a Slack message away.
“Eraser helps us get more life out of our visuals–it’s easy to share what we build and collaborate to tell better stories.”
The Result
Simplified diagram creation, improved technical documentation, and a foundation for future growth
With Eraser, Rafay unlocked a scalable diagram creation workflow that solidified both internal documentation and client communications in one fell swoop. Today, rather than chasing individual deliverables, its teams can focus their bandwidth on maintaining Rafay’s technological edge in a rapidly evolving AI environment.
Looking ahead, Rafay plans to center the entirety of its client communications around its Eraser-powered diagrams–driving immediate and lasting alignment regardless of project complexity.
“We used to conduct all client meetings in Google Slides or PowerPoint, but nowadays, we simply use Eraser. It’s the definitive platform for visual explanation.”
